Christmas

Callie had a great Christmas. Her Nana, Great Grandma, and Uncle Greg came down from Crossville. Nana bought everyone new pajamas to wear Christmas morning. Callie was so excited about her new jammies and the presents under the tree, that she couldn't sleep. She woke up early Christmas morning and started opening presents. She really understood how to unwrap the presents and she did a great job. Her Gammy, Grandpa Charles, and Aunt Michelle came over around 11. She had even more presents to open. She finally stopped opening presents around noon. She then took a nap. That night our friends Carrie and Russ came over with Russ's mom and their two kids to eat Christmas dinner. We had a feast. It was so much fun to spend time with family and friends. This was a wonderful Christmas. We missed all of our family that couldn't be with us. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family and a great group of friends.

Holiday Party

We went to the holiday party for the Mom's group tonight. We all had so much fun. Callie danced and ran around with her friends. She enjoyed the cookies and Christmas music. She also received a wonderful gift... a stuffed Unicorn that is bigger than her. It was very nice to get together with all of our wonderful friends for a night of fun and food.

Thanksgiving in Tennessee

We went to Tennessee to visit family for Thanksgiving. Callie and Kevin had both been extremely sick the week before, so we were glad we were able to go. We went up Wednesday and hung out at Nana's house. Thursday Callie was still not feeling well, so she slept though most of lunch. Kevin and I enjoyed some great food courtesy of my mom. We had turkey, ham, stuffing, mac and cheese, cranberry sauce, and anything else you could imagine. It was soooo good. We went out to Granny's house after lunch to see Nini and Pop. Callie also got to see more family members. There were about 30 of her aunts, uncles, and cousins for her to talk to. Callie got to open up a few Christmas presents that day. On Friday Callie was allowed to open up the rest of her Christmas presents from Nini and Pop. She got a lot of great stuff. She got a big piano, baby doll, puzzle, and lots of other goodies. She had a really good time hanging out with family.

Southern Girl

I guess Callie really is a Southern Girl. When she says hello or goodbye, she says, "Hi Ya'll, or Bye Ya'll". I must say that more than I think I do. I know she did not get that from Kevin! I have never heard him say Ya'll!!

Time to Eat

Now when Callie is hungry, she lets us know. She will go to her chair or put on her bib. If that wasn't hint enough, she will start saying "My Meal". I am not sure where she learned that, but when she says "My Meal", she is ready to eat.

Halloween

Callie was a dragonfly for Halloween. We went to Crossville so she could trick or treat at family's homes. She loved wearing her outfit. I think she thought she looked pretty. She kept saying Owwwww. We went to see her Granny and Aunt Gladys. She got lots of good candy. Then we came back to my mom's house. Her Great Grandma and Patch were there. Callie enjoyed opening the door for trick or treaters and giving them candy. The trick or treaters loved it too. Callie was very generous on the candy!

Walking backwards

Callie just learned how to walk backwards and she loves it. She loves to walk backwards up hills. She thinks it is so funny.

She is talking a lot more these days. She knows where her nose, ears, eyes, and mouth are and knows how to say each body part. She also says thank you when someone gives her something and your welcome. At least she has manners :)

One, Two, Threeeeeeeeee

Starting when Callie was a little baby, we have had a bedtime routine. This routine includes a bath, teeth brushing, reading a book, putting lotion on, and daddy "flying" Callie to mommy. Kevin always holds Callie and says, "One, two, three" and flies her to me. Just recently, when Kevin would say, "One", Callie would say "Two, threeeeee". Now, anytime someone says one, she knows that two and three come after it. She expects when she says three for something fun to happen. She is so smart!

18 month check-up

Callie had her 18 month checkup today. She has finally made it to the 20 pound mark! She is in the 77 percentile on height and 2 percentile on weight. She is tall and skinny!! The doctor said she is healthy, happy, and smart. Her canine teeth are coming in. The top ones have already broken through and she hasn't even been cranky. She got the flu shot, Hepatitis shot, and the MMR today. She did not like the shots at all! We felt so sorry for her. The doctor told us that these shots hurt pretty bad. We brought her home and fed her ice cream. She seems in a much better mood now!

Potty time?

Well, we bought a potty for Callie today. We think she is ready to use it, so we are going to try. It sings and talks! We are not sure if this is going to work, but we are going to give it a try! Wish us luck.

Kevin is back in school

Kevin started college this week. He is going back to school to get his degree in Computer Information Systems - Information Technology Management . He is taking all of his classes online at Walden University. It is going to take hard work and good time management skills, but I know he can do it. We are so proud of him for going back to school.

Callie is 1 1/2 years old!

We can't believe how quickly the time has flown by. Callie was a year and half yesterday. She is so amazing. We absolutely love hanging out with her. I am so blessed to have a supportive husband that allows me to be a stay at home mom. I cannot imagine a better life than the one I have. Everyday Callie does something new to keep me fascinated. She loves to give kisses... to me, daddy, nana, the dogs- everyone! She also loves to paint. We bought her a table that is her size and she loves to sit at it and paint or just hang out.

Callie is very opinionated. She knows what she likes, wants, or does not like and lets us know. She goes to her seat in the kitchen when she is hungry and takes off her bib when she is full. She will go to the refrigerator when she is thirsty. She is so smart!

We are so blessed to have such a smart, sweet, loving little girl.

First Hair Cut

Callie went to Pigtails and Crewcuts for her first hair cut on October 8th. This hair salon is great. She sat in a police car while the lady (Ms. Stephanie) cut her hair. She had a blast. They blew bubbles at her and let her pretend to drive the car. Ms. Stephanie did a great job cutting her hair. She gave her a little bob cut. When she finished Callie and Elmo received a pretty butterfly clip. It was a great experience.

Trip to the ER

After we got back from our trip from Florida, Callie was not feeling well. We thought it was just a cold, but the cough got worse. We took her to the doctor and they said she had bronchtis and gave us some medicine. We tried that for a couple of days. The cough was getting no better and she had a fever of 105. We took her back to the doctor and they said she had RSV ( a respitory virus). The doctor said we needed to give her breathing treatments. Later that night, she was still running a fever. We were getting ready to give her a breathing treatment and noticed that her lips and toes were blue. We took off and went to the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta hospital at Scottish Rite.

When we pulled up, we were amazed that they had valet parking. We went in and registered. We quickly saw a nurse and let her know what was going on. They then put us in the fast track waiting room. We didn't have to wait longer than 45 minutes to see a doctor. When we saw the doctor, they took her temperature and she was still at 105. They drew her blood and put a catheter in her to check for a UTI. We felt so sorry for her, but she was a trooper. 4 hours later, the doctor came in and said she did not have a UTI, it was a virus and we just needed to try and keep her comfortable.

We were so glad we went there. Everone there was so nice. They really do treat children well.

She is finally feeling better- thank goodness!

Starting to Blog

We thought we would start blogging to let everyone know what we are doing these days. We thought this would be a great way to share what milestones Callie has reached and what all she is in to.
